Wind in the Willows Project
In my Art For The Gaming Industry class at university, we were challenged to create a series of designs and illustrations for an IP in a pre-existing art style. For this project, I chose to create a cozy co-op game based on Wind In The Willows in the art style of Nicholas Kole, a character desinger and illustrator for franchises such as Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and Disney Lorcana.
I transposed the setting to somewhere closer to home – the Appalachian Mountains, and decided the game would focus on scavenging trash and upcycling it into usual objects for this society of tiny forest creatures.
I challenged myself to explore color, value and lineless art, a big departure from my usual manga-inspired, line-heavy art style.
